Small business IT support in Brisbane

When something breaks in a small business, it isn't just annoying — it's the day's work stopped, and usually while a customer is standing there.

Geek Alert provides on-site and remote IT support for Brisbane small businesses, sole traders and home offices. No lock-in contract, no monthly retainer, no account manager — you call the person who does the work.

  • No contract or monthly minimum
  • On-site across greater Brisbane
  • You deal with one person, every time
What we help with

The everyday things a small business runs on

Not enterprise infrastructure — the practical stuff that stops a shop, studio or office from getting through the day:

  • Setting up a computer for a new starter, and locking down one for a leaver
  • Microsoft 365 and email — new accounts, shared mailboxes, mail rules, spam
  • Shared files and folders that everyone can actually find
  • Backups that are set up once and then checked
  • Office Wi-Fi, dropouts and dead spots in the back room
  • Printers and scanners that half the office can't see
  • Slow computers that have quietly become a daily tax on everyone's time
  • Advice on what to buy before you spend the money, not after

Why no contract

Most IT companies want a monthly fee per computer. That model exists because it suits the provider — predictable revenue, and a helpdesk that's never the same person twice.

For a business with a handful of computers, it usually means paying every month for a service you call on four times a year. We'd rather you called when you actually need us. If your business grows to the point where a managed contract genuinely makes sense, we'll tell you that too.

Who this suits

Sole traders, cafes and shops, trades and allied-health practices, studios, and offices of roughly two to fifteen people — the size where nobody's job title includes IT and it lands on whoever is least busy.

Good questions

Frequently asked questions

Do we have to sign a contract or pay a monthly retainer?
No. There's no contract, no minimum, and no monthly fee. You call when something's wrong or when you need something set up, and you pay for the time it takes — the same published rates as everyone else.
We already have an IT provider. Can you still help?
Yes, and that's common — usually for the on-site jobs a remote provider can't do, or for the small things that never make it to the top of their queue. We'll work alongside them rather than trying to replace them.
Can you come outside business hours?
Sometimes, by arrangement. Appointments run 9am–5pm seven days, so a Saturday or Sunday visit is often the least disruptive option for a shop or office. We're a one-person business, so we can't offer a guaranteed after-hours response — if that's what you need, you want a managed service provider and we'll say so.
Do you look after servers?
We look after the everyday things small businesses actually run on — computers, Microsoft 365, email, shared files, printers, networks and backups. If you have a rack of on-premise server hardware and need someone on call for it, that's a managed service provider's job, not ours.
